"The Foundation of the Kingdom of God"
The bedrock upon which we must stand, walk and live.
Hearing and obeying the Word will build our lives on a solid, firm foundation that will stand up to and weather any storm. (Matthew 7)
Extra scriptures and points
Read Col 1:9-23 proclamation of God, Jesus and what He has created. (NIV)
When God created mankind, He did so for three purposes as stated in Psalm 8:4-6. In v.4 God created mankind for fellowship with Him, then in v. 5 it states that mankind was created to reflect the moral qualities of God Himself (the word glory means God's moral attributes), and finally in v.6 we see that mankind was to be king over the rest of God's creation (i.e. the animal and vegetable kingdom). Had Adam and Eve not sinned, and had they filled the earth with their progeny as God commanded, there would have been no death, and all peoples of the earth would continually fill God's eternal principles forever. The Foundation Stones – God, Life in the Spirit, Creation, Fall, Sin/Salvation, Eternity
The Foundation Principles – The Kingdom of God
Living a life of Stability –
Stone # 1 - God Is Ps 19:1, Rom 1-20, Heb.11:6, Ex. 3:14, Ex 6:2 “I am” Deut 32:39a,
Before we look at creation and all that it brought, we need to deal with the most important facts about God. In the beginning God already was! There has never been a time when God did not exist, and there will never be a time when He will cease to be, He is eternal. He has always been God ruling all of life before creation and He will always be God ruling all of life throughout eternity.
So, first we need to see who He is as God, to get to know Him for Himself and to get as good a picture of Him as we can. That way we can have a clearer and better understanding of Him. The more you know about someone, the better relationship you can have with them. The better you know and understand them, the more you can trust them. So let’s take a little time to look at the most important and known things about God.
Stone # 2 - God is Spirit
God is a non-material personal being, self-conscious and self-determining. (Def)
God is not a material being, He created material things, but He Himself is not.
God is Spirit! That defines His substance. It also defines all of life, as all of life comes from and out of Him, out of His Spirit. There is nothing in all of existence that He has not made and brought forth, and it has its very being from Him.
The whole of life is first and foremost in the spirit realm; we need to look and understand the spirit realm first, and then look to the natural realm.
The word spirit also means “breath” and where you have breath you have life. God is the giver of breath, the giver of all life. [The breath of the Spirit]
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (We must go to and relate to God according to who He is, not as we are)
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him. (Jesus tells us about who He is)
Colossians 1:15 He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Jesus said if you have seen me, you have seen the Father. So we know what God is like by looking at Jesus and seeing who He was in this world, by listening to what He said and by watching what He did.
I Timothy 6:16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power.
Luke 24:39 see my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: Touch me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see that I have. (God is Spirit)
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, (Even though we cannot see Him, we can know Him and what He is like, even His invisible attributes, by the things we can see)
I Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Jesus said God is like the wind; God can be heard but not seen. He is constantly speaking, to Creation which He made by His Word, to angels and to people.
God has made Himself known to us, and He has completely shown Himself to us through Jesus, but our understanding of Him is very incomplete. We see through a glass darkly scripture says, I Corinthians 13:12, but we are able to see much more, and much clearer than we think we can or usually do.
If all of life, the universe, the heavens, the earth and all that is in and on them, is a part of His creation. If He holds us (which means us and the whole universe, everything,) in the palm of His hand, how big is He? God is big enough to rule His mighty universe, yet small enough to live within our hearts.”
God is spirit, and we are also spirit, we are born of the spirit and will ever be who we are in our new heavenly bodies in the spirit.
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 1 Corinthians 2:13
Conclusion: God has no image. He cannot be seen by the human eye, but creation points to His existence. His Son, Jesus testified to His existence and desire to be sought by people. He also provided us with an example of how to live our lives seeking and serving God.
Stone # 3 - God is Eternal – (Without beginning or end; lasting forever; always existing)
(Deuteronomy 33:26 - 27; Psalm 90:1-2; Isaiah 57:15; Jeremiah 10:10; Jn 14:16; 1 Timothy 1:17)
God is eternal and the life we have in Him is eternal. Life for those who know Him will continue forever and ever without end. Because
God is eternal, and lives outside of time, He knows the beginning of things from the end, and so when He speaks to things to come, we can trust it because He can see it clearly and knows all that will happen in life, in our lives and in reference to what He will do in it.
Stone # 4 - God is Infinite - (Boundless; endless, immeasurable)
(1 Kings 8:22-27; Jeremiah 23:24; Psalm 102:25-27, 145:3; Revelation 22:13)
Definition: The infinity of God is not an independent attribute. If we were to say, "God is the infinite," without specification, the meaning would be pantheistic, equal to saying, "God is everything." In using the word "infinite" we must always be specific.
Meaning: Therefore, God is not found in the trees or in the mountains but in who He is. Surely His power is displayed through the creation of the trees and mountains and everything else we see and don't see, but those things are not to be worshipped. Only God is to be worshipped, for He created all things in His infinite power with His infinite wisdom.
Conclusion: There is no way to fully understand the vast greatness of God. Infinity is the term man uses to describe something that cannot be counted or measured and God is surely immeasurable.
Stone # 5 - God is Immortal – (Not mortal; not liable or subject to death. imperishable; everlasting.)
Definition: Only God possesses immortality "as an original, eternal and necessary endowment." The immortality of man's soul is conferred upon it by God and is contingent on His will.
Meaning: Man cannot gain immortality by his own power, instead God must grant it to him. God promises to give it to those who believe in Him. Those who don't believe will be separated from Him forever and will suffer eternal punishment and torment as a result of not being with God who gives life and immortality.
(I Timothy 1:17; I Timothy 6:16)
Stone # 6 - God is Invisible – (not visible; not perceptible by the eye.)
Yes, it is true that He is invisible to us, to the human eye. But, His eternal Power, His divine character, and His Godhead are known and clearly seen by the things He has made. (Romans 1:20)
It would seem to the world that since they cannot see Him, that He either does not exist, or, that He is not someone to be too concerned with.
But we know that He has made Himself know to mankind by what He has made, all of creation shouts His name and His praises. Those of us who do know Him even though we have never seen Him face to face can help them to see as we tell them about Him.
(Col 1:15; I Tim 1:17; Heb 11:27; I John 4:12)
Stone # 7 - God is Self-Sufficient and Self-Existent – I AM
(Exodus 3:13-14; Psalm 50:10-12; Colossians 1:16; John 8:58)
God is completely self sufficient and in need of nothing. We must see and understand just how much God He really is as it will help us see Him as He is.
We must receive from outside of ourselves as we are the created of God, but, He is not created and already is and has all because all comes out from Him.
He created man for His pleasure, but not for His need. It is often stated that we were created because God was lonely and needed someone.
That is incorrect; He wanted but didn’t need anything. We have nothing to give Him outside of what He has and does enable us to give, but He is pleased with His children when they give to Him and to others, especially when we do so sacrificially as He does, because then we are being like Him. He as God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) are all and from them all things exist and have their being (and function).
Stone # 8 - There is only one God - (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6, 8 45; 5; Mal 2:10; John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; Galatians 4:8-9)
It is not that most of the world does not believe there is a God; it is that they do not know Him and so super impose upon Him their own belief, interpretation and will.
All people are born with a conscience, and their conscience tells them that He not only exists, but a number of other things about Him as well. It alerts them to the moral law, about what is right and wrong, good and bad and sin.
The conscience of people is a very, very important thing and people need to pay close attention to it. They need to be sensitive and respect it, and also to yield when it is alerting them.
We as believers have had our consciences fully awakened, but we also now have the Holy Spirit to speak to us, alert us and guide us as we were designed to live before the fall, and so it is to Him that we should be paying close attention to and responding to the most.
Scripture has some good examples of the conscience working;
John 8: 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. (KJV)
Rom. 2:15, "Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another." The existence of God is written in the human conscience. (KJV)
Romans 2:15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them. (ESV)
Romans 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. (ESV)
Romans 2: 14 Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them. (NIV)
As people continually ignore or block their consciences alerts and helps, they distort, deaden and sometimes actually sear it so that they no longer hear or feel it anymore. They must hear it and respond so that they are kept from wrong and sin.
All gods, goddesses, idols, artifacts’, witchcrafts etc, including all ideas of God that are not scriptural are great insults to who He really is. His very majesty is insulted, tarnished and attacked by these things, and although He can handle the attack just fine as far as He as God is concerned, people cannot.
They are confused by it all, are deceived and drawn away unto many falsehoods and demon bondages, and are finally destroyed behind them.
The world is filled with so many falsehoods, ungodly beliefs and even the churches and the people of God have opened up to them and embraced God’s enemies unaware.
He is God and there is no other! Only His ways are right and acceptable and there are no others! All of life comes from and out of Him and there is only death apart from Him!
Stone # 8 - God is Three in one, Triune or a Trinity - (Three persons in one)
The Trinity, or, the Triune nature of the Godhead. Start here
(Gen 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19; John 10:30, 12:45; 14:9; 14:16-17; 17:11, 21; Acts 2:32-33; 2 Corinthians 13:14, 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2)
There are an endless number of cults organizations denominations etc that seek to speak to the trinity good and bad. But it must be scripture that we listen to and that gives us the clearest picture we can have. It is in these areas that are hard for people to fully comprehend that so much error and misunderstandings come as people try to fill in the blanks with human understanding.
God the Son (Jesus) is fully, completely God. God the Father is fully, completely God. And God the Holy Spirit is fully, completely God. Yet there is only one God. And after being baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased." (Matt. 3:16-17)
They are three distinct persons; yet, they are in entirety one God. Each of the persons is called God, each creates, each was involved in Jesus' resurrection, each indwells, etc. Therefore, God is one, but the one God is in three simultaneous persons. They are coeternal, coequal, and co-powerful but fully one as God.
Stone # 9 - God is Omnipresent - (Present everywhere at all times)
Definition: The attribute of God by which He fills the universe in all its parts and is present everywhere at once. Not a part, but the whole of God is present in every place. This is true of all three members of the Trinity. They are so closely related that where one is the others can be said to be, also.
Meaning: Therefore, when man is sinning God is there. If a child is doing something a parent has told him not to do, God is there. There is no place man can go to hide from God.
If Christians really knew this and took it to heart, they would not sin the sins they do, would not say the things they say, would not do some of the things they do. God is always watching you!
He always knows where you are, what you are doing and thinking. He always knows the very thoughts and intent of your heart. People like to say, “God understands, He looks at the heart.” Yes, that is absolutely true, but He says of that, “The heart of man is desperately wicked, who can know it (understand it). Only God can, and He does as much as possible to have mercy in spite of it, but we dare not use that as an excuse to sin or take lightly important things.
We must realize and understand that He is always right there with us every moment of every day, and that is something for us to pay attention to and respect. It is also a protection for us as well, and we need to be thankful and embrace Him for it.
There is no place to go where God is not already there! TPC.
(I Kings 8:27; Psalm 139:7-12; Jeremiah 23:23-24; Matt 18:20; I Cor 2:10-11)
Stone # 10 - God is Omnipotent - (All powerful, the All Mighty God, Warrior, Champion)
(Isa 9:6; Mal 2:7; Genesis 18:14; Psalm 104: 30; Psalm 115:3; Isaiah 48:2; Jeremiah 32:17,27; Matthew 19:26; Luke 1:37; Luke 18:27;
Definition: The attribute of God which describes his ability to do whatever He wills. God's will is limited by His nature, and He therefore cannot do anything contrary to His nature as God, such as to ignore sin, to sin, or to do something absurd or self-contradictory. God is not controlled by His power, but has complete control over it; otherwise He would not be a free being. To a certain extent, He has voluntarily limited Himself by the free will of His rational creatures.
Meaning: This means that if God says something will happen, He has the power to make sure that it will happen. Therefore, when He promises eternal life to those who believe in Christ, He has the power to grant it. Just as He cannot sin, He has the power to forgive those who do
Conclusion: There is nothing that God cannot do except that which goes against His nature. God alone has the power to conquer sin and death. He even created Satan who disobeyed and fell; therefore, He has power over him. He promised to give us the power to overcome him that is in the world.
Stone # 11 - God is Omniscient - (All knowing) (All seeing Gen 16:13)
(I Sam 2:3; Psalm 139:2-6; Psalm 147:4,5; Isaiah 40:13-14; John 14:16; John 14:16; Acts 15:18; I Cor 2:10-11; 1 John 3:20)
Definition: Omnipotent - The attribute of God by which God perfectly and eternally knows all things which can be known, past, present, and future. God knows how best to attain His desired ends. Taken in part from the TPC.
Meaning: This, like omnipresence, demonstrates that man cannot hide from God because God knows all things. He knows the number of hairs on each head.
There is not a sparrow that falls to the ground, or the birth or death of anyone or anything that he is not right there and knows all about it. He knows even the minutest little intricate detail. We are all known of Him, even if and when we don’t want to be.
Since He knows all things and is everywhere at all times to know and see all things, we should rest in the knowledge that He is right on top of whatever we are going through and will help us if we will work with Him.
Stone # 12 - God is Immutable or Unchanging - (He cannot change)
(Psalm 102:25-27; Isaiah 46:9-10; Malachi 3:6; James 1:17; Hebrews 1:10-12, 6:17-18, 13:8)
Definition: The perfection of God by which He is devoid of all change in essence, attributes, consciousness, will, and promises. No change is possible in God, because all change must be to better or worse, and God is absolute perfection. No cause for change in God exists, either in Himself or outside of Him.
Meaning: Perfection means perfection. There is no reason for God to change because there is no change that would make Him better. However, man should be striving to be found complete and perfect in God's eyes. Used in part from the parent company
Stone # 13 - God is Sovereign - (Supreme Ruler with absolute authority and power)
(Gen 14:20; 2 Samuel 7:22; Isaiah 45:9; 46:9-11; Daniel 4:28-37; Zechariah 9:14; Romans 9:20, 21; 1 Timothy 6:15-16; Revelation 19:16)
There is nothing, and there is no one more supreme or having more authority and power than God. He is sovereign over all and in all, as all of life and being is from Him, created by Him and subject to Him.
Definition: God is the supreme authority. He is not subject to any power or law which could be conceived as superior to or other than Himself. Sovereign refers to a king who has authority over a certain land or group of people. God's sovereignty is over all the earth and all creation, as He created all things.
Conclusion: God has every right to deal with man however He wants, because He created man in the first place. Since He created mankind and everything else, He alone is worthy to rule and decide what will take place. Only He can say what will happen to the believer and to those who don't believe.
Stone # 14 - God is Light - The source of all light.
(He is light, all light comes from and out of Him.) In Him is no darkness at all. Light reveals, darkness conceals, (James 1:17; 1 John 1:5)
Stone # 15 - God is Holy – (Sacred, Holy, set apart, utterly unique, one of a kind.)
He is a thrice Holy God, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are all Holy. The inhabitants of heaven all cry “Holy, Holy,
Holy is the Lord God almighty.” God’s nature is pure and is absolutely separate from evil.
He tells us to be Holy as He is holy. We are to be separated from evil, from sin and those who commit them, and not allow ourselves to be spotted by it. The holiness of God is awesome, magnificent and He is beautiful beyond description in it and because of it.
"Power is God’s hand or arm, omniscience His eye, mercy His bowels, eternity His duration, but holiness is His beauty" (S. Charnock).
This is the greatest title of honor; in this latter doth the majesty and venerableness of His name appear (S. Charnock).
Venerableness: Commanding respect because of great age or impressive dignity; worthy of veneration or reverence, as because of high office or noble character.
(Exodus 15:11; Leviticus 19:2; 1 Samuel 2:2; Psalms 86:8-10; Psalm 99:1-3; Isaiah 57:15; 1 Peter 1:15-25; Rev 4:8)
Stone # 16 - God is Righteous and Just - (Deuteronomy 32:4; Psalm 11:7; Psalm 19:9, 116:5, 119:137;145:17; Jeremiah 12:1 Isa 45:2
Stone # 17 - God is Wise - “His understanding is beyond measure.” He is all wisdom
(Ps.147:1-6; Proverbs 3:19; Romans 11:33-36; 16:26-27; 1Timothy 1:17)
Stone # 18 - God is Faithful - (Deut 7:9; Lamentations 3: 22-23; Psalm 91: 4; Psalm 89:1-8; 1Corinthians 1:9, 10:13; I Thess 5:24; II Thess 3:3; I Tim 1:15; Rev 21:5)
PTL! - (2 Timothy 2: 13) If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself.
Stone # 19 - God is True - He is Truth - (Deut 32:4; Psalm 19:9; Psalm 31:5; Psalm 33:4; Isaiah 45:19; John 8:31-32; John 14:6; John 17:17; Romans 3:4; II Thessalonians 2:10-13; Titus 1:1-2)
Definition: Truth is the interrelated consistency of statements and their correspondence with the facts of reality and the facts themselves.
It suggests an integration of character, and adherence of virtue, a kind of reliability, which includes and goes beyond the literal meaning to include those aspects of personal behavior which seem to be implied by the love of truth.
The concept of truth is derived from the character of God, and is the exact opposite of the concept of lying. "It is impossible for God to lie, and so only truth comes from Him and goes out to us."
Meaning: Since it is impossible for God to lie we know that everything He says about what will happen will actually take place. If we are to become perfect we need to be known as individuals who tell the truth, like God. That means when we promise something we need to keep that promise or not make it in the first place. We need to try to place ourselves in situations where we don't feel the need to lie to defend either ourselves or our behavior.
Whatever God says He will do, He will do. Therefore, when He says those who believe in Jesus shall have eternal life, you can rest assured that will take place. Just as sure is His providing a way out of temptation, protection from the flaming arrows of the enemy, and Satan's eventual demise by being thrown into the Lake of Fire forever.
(Definition and comments above taken in part from the Awareness of God Attributes of God lesson 5 by The Parent Company.)
Stone # 20 - God is Good – (To the very end He is good!) (Psalm 25:8; Psalm 31:19; Psalm 34:8; Hosea 3:5; Mark 10:18)
Stone # 21 - God is Merciful – Giving us what we do not deserve!
His mercy is new to us and for us every morning!)
(Deuteronomy 4:31; Psalm 103:8-17; Daniel 9:9; Luke 1:77-78; Rom 15:9; 2 Cor 1:3; Hebrews 2:17)
Stone # 22 - God is Gracious - 2 Peter 1:2 (Amplified Bible)
“May grace (God's favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. (Exodus 34:6; Psalm 103:8; 1 Peter 5:10)
Stone # 23 - God is Love – The very nature of God is love and it is His heart and will to do so.
Love is; patient, kind, trusting, hoping, persevering. It protects and is not envious, boastful, proud, rude, self seeking or easily angered. It does not record wrongs, and does not delight in evil. God is love; therefore all these things are true of God toward all people.
This is how we are to be and to live.
(Matthew 22:36-40; John 3:16; John 15:9-14; Romans 5:8, 8:35-39; I Cor 13:13; 1 John 4:8-16)
Stone # 24 - God is All Sufficient – More than enough in all situations!
God is all powerful, all mighty, and has all the ability necessary to give us, bring to us and provide for us all that we need. He has an absolute abundance of everything we will ever need or want, and it is out of His great affection toward us that He not only does it, but that He so desires to do it. Dictionary meaning for sufficient - adequate for the purpose; enough, but Phil 4:19 says He is more than enough, that he has all the abundance that we will ever need.
Stone # 25 - God is Everlasting – (Gen 21:33, Psalm 9:1-3)
Stone # 26 – He is Wonderful Counselor – (Isa 9:2; 6-7)
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined......For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end,
Stone # 27 - He is the Everlasting Father - (Isaiah 9:6-7)
The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father.
6. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (NIV)
Stone # 28 - He is the Prince of Peace - (Isaiah 9:5-6)
5. Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire.
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (NIV)
Stone # 29 - He is the God who see me – (Gen 16:13)
13 She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen[a] the One who sees me.” (NIV)

"Foundation Stones of the Kingdom of God"
Salvation by faith – Saved by Grace through Faith!
There is only one God, only one way to God, only one way of salvation, only one Lord, Jesus Christ the Righteous one who died for the sins of the world.
There is only one sacrifice that the Father will receive, that is the death of His one and only Son. It is the death of the cross and all men women and children must receive Christ by faith in true repentance and receive the forgiveness of their sins or, they will not make it and will end up in hell.
Pray! – Communication with the Lord is Key
The most important thing to any relationship is commuinication; you need to spend some time every day communicating with the Lord. Talk to him, get quiet before Him, listen to Him, and get acquainted with the voice of the Holy Spirit.
He wants to talk to you, He wants to speak to you, and He wants to have an ongoing communication relationship with you so that your relationship is intimate and in that you will find strength and stability when things happen. He wants you to become to make your request known to Him, to inquire of Him whatever you want, need or desire. You are connected to Jesus, to the Father and to the Holy Spirit, and they want you communing with them so that you are kept close and at peace.
Read His Word! – The Word of God is a mandatory part of your life.
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105 (all three)
"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers."Psalm 1:1-3(NIV)
"How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!" (NKJV)
"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word, I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." (NIV)
"How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word."
"With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!
I have stored up your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." (ESV)
"Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You" (Psalm 119:11)
The written Word of God is the Word of God. He had it written down by Holy men of God, as the Holy Spirit moved upon them to write it. He then moved upon His men continually to preserve it and continue to copy it down and pass it along.
It was confirmed over the centuries by the Prophets of God, by the Apostles and Prophets of the church after He left, and by the fulfilling of the prophecies in the bible. He is God, all powerful and more than able to have kept His word and kept it pure. It is true, all of it, so rest in that!
There are different translations true, so choose the best ones for accuracy, the ESV or NKJV are considered the most accurate as pastor tells you over and over, they are literal word for word translations. Use them for accuracy, but there are others that are good too like the NIV. But remember this one point in all, the Lord had His Word written to say what He meant and you can rely on it.
Learn to rely on the Holy Spirit to help you understand it, as He is your teacher.
The Word of God brings you faith. “Faith comes by hearing and by hearing the Word of God.” You need faith, and you get it from hearing His word. You receive it from reading it, by listening to sermons, by listening to CD’s and in whatever way His word is proclaimed! Fill yourself on His word and you will do well, and you will preserve your life in strength, power and stability.
His Word is your daily bread to live by! It speaks to you, instructs and teaches you all about God, Jesus, the Kingdom you are now a part of, the family of God, the church. It tells you everything that you need to know to grow in faith and maturity.
Outside of praying, it is the most important things you need to do as a believer, so read His word and implement it into your life, in other words take it to heart and do what it says!
“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words...." John 14:23-24
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrew 4:11-12
"I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your word.
My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may meditate on Your word." Psalm 119:147
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. ” (Matthew 7:24-27)
But, if we do not!
***If we read, hear the Word, and do not do it, or implement it allowing it to become a part of us and our daily lives, we do many things by that action as well.
First of all, we deceive ourselves as that is what we must do, that is the point.
It is His Word that gives life to us, His word is alive, and it will bring what is needed to strengthen us.
The reason He gave us His Word was to teach us, to instruct us, to make known to us of all the important things in life we need to know. The who, what and why’s of life, we need to know!
We also short change our selves because we need it to live right. We need it to judge ourselves by, to know about sin, salvation, the cost of it all. We need to align our lives by it so that we do not sin against Him and live godly lives in this world.
Then because we don’t do it, we must live that part of our lives under our own strength and power, and of course we will fail, as we cannot make it that way.
And because of it, we give the enemy a place from which to get a foot hold or even erect a stronghold. What you do not know can and will hurt you.
So, He has given us His word for all that we need in life, and expects us to utilize it to the full, for it is for our own good and we must be faithful to that to do well.
Baptizing believers – Water Baptism by full submersion
No sprinkling here, as we must follow the pattern given to us in all that we do. Full submersion is the pattern for water baptism because the Lord commanded it, did it Himself, because that is what the Word says, because it was apostolic doctrine and practice, and because of what it represents to the believer. (Matt. 28:19)
We were, and people are, baptized into the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.
"Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God." (Col. 2:12)
"Don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection." (Rom. 6:3-5)
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death....Our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been freed from sin." (Rom. 6:4-7)
"Jesus commanded that baptism be in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:19)
The other names you see in other scriptures that don’t use all three names are still correct as they represent who He was as God in bodily form. The God head is represented in the Lord and Christ, Jesus the Christ, the Lord Jesus, etc, so it is still correct.
Who may be baptized?
Those who have believed in, put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, who have repented (turned) from their sins and made a commitment to follow Him may be baptized. Belief and repentance are required before water baptism.
