Burgoyne Ministries International
The ministry of the Lord is the most exciting, rewarding and blessed life that a person can have the privilege to be a part of, but, it is also the most humbling and that is as it should be.
What we need to understand is that for the Lord to call someone to the ministry, to a ministry of any kind, but especially the full time ministry, is to be given the most important position, and responsibility in all of life, there is none greater and it is not something to be taken lightly.
And yet many do take it lightly. To some, it really is just another job. They neglect their duties, don't learn what they need to, and lead according to their own will and understanding. Some are busy building their own kingdoms instead of the Lord's and they lead people astray. They are greedy for gain, are not committed to righteousness or holiness, and they end up being abusive, even downright destructive and hurt the very people they have been put in charge of caring for.
Then there are those who are actually wolves in sheep's clothing, people who are doing all of that and more, and who are too often not even recognized by the people of the church and great harm has been done.
So it is a very big deal to God and to His church. There are those issues and a host of others we could list to make the point, but what is evident, to say the least, is that they evidently have not been reading these scriptures lately, or haven't taken the Lord at all seriously.
So, for there to be so many problems in the church,
Anyone called to the full time ministry who knows anything, knows that this is a position of great importance and that the lord is watching over not only His word to perform it, but His people as well. He is watching to see how they are doing as a good shepherd does, and especially watching the leaders and how they are treating them.
The truth is that this is no minor issue, it has major implications and consequences few look at as they enter the ministry or as they carry it out day today.
No matter what ministry it may be, or whose, yours, mine or anyone else's, it is all very necessary and extremely important. That is because first and foremost it is the ministry of the Lord that we are called to do, and because He has deemed it the most necessary thing we can do.
Anything that we do in real ministry is because of Him, for Him and by Him. We cannot do the real work of the ministry unless we receive His help and do what it is He has called for.
Second, because the ministry of the Lord is all about people, from the beginning, to the end, it has, and is, about the needs of people. Nothing you do in, or for ministry is not going to have people and their needs, as its focal point and that is something any minister needs to understand from the start.
So no matter if it is preaching, or teaching God's Word, whether it is in counseling someone, marrying or in helping a family put their loved on to rest, it is all about them.
As a minister, I travel preaching and teaching God's Word, to encourage and help God's people receive what they need, so that they can go forward being used of God to meet someone else's need. It is a very exciting, and rewarding life, and I truly enjoy it, but the first and most important priority of your life as an Evangelist is to introduce people to the Lord and to bring them to the place of true Salvation. There is nothing else like that and it is a big part of the Evangelists life.
As a Preacher, you have the great privilege of proclaiming the Word of God, presenting it in an anointed clear way so that the people hear what the Lord is saying to them, and by bringing them into the presence of the Lord.
1 Peter 5
To the Elders and the Flock
1 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed:
2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;
3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
The Lord will take you just as far and as fast as you are willing to let Him. And He will do with your life just as much as you are willing to sacrifice yourself for.
The Holy Spirit, that same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, that did and does all that we read about, hear about and can only imagine, is the same Spirit that lives inside of you right now, this minute, right now He is resident in you if you belong to Him, and guess what? He wants to work not only in you and on behalf of you, but through you too.
The Day is fast approaching when that trumpet will sound. That Moment is almost here when the dead in Christ will hear His voice and that’s coming! The moment that you will be changed! The second that the trumpet sounds
1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
